American Biogas Council Announces Board Election Results

WASHINGTON – Jan. 8, 2026 – The  American Biogas Council (ABC) announced today the results of its annual board election. Five directors were re-elected, and one new director has joined the board.

“These elected board members bring deep expertise from across the biogas industry—companies that transform organic waste into clean, locally produced energy and fertilizer,” said ABC Executive Director Patrick Serfass. “Their leadership will help drive the growth of a dynamic biogas industry that meets increasing energy demand by turning waste streams into American-made energy, while strengthening local economies and delivering real benefits to communities across the country.”

The ABC welcomes new director Jessica Linville-LeRoy, Ph.D., E.I., Senior Project Manager at Tetra Tech. Jessica has more than 17 years of experience developing biogas and renewable natural gas (RNG) projects across agricultural, landfill, and other sectors. She has led multidisciplinary teams delivering complex projects and has been an active ABC member for more than a decade, including prior board service and ongoing leadership within the organization’s Training and Digester Operator School programs.

Returning ABC Board members include:

  • Bernard “Bernie” Sheff, P.E., Associate Technical Consultant, Burns and McDonnell
    Bernie has more than 35 years of experience in the biogas industry, with a career focused on anaerobic digestion, nutrient recovery, and agricultural waste management, particularly in the dairy sector. He is currently serving his sixth term as Chair of the ABC Board.
  • Brian Langolf, Biogas Program Director, University of Wisconsin–Madison
    Brian brings more than 20 years of professional experience in biogas research, operations, and training, including 16 years with the University of Wisconsin. He is currently working at UW-Madison on projects in organic waste to energy, soil health, and nutrient management plans for farms, as well as consulting for other biogas systems. He has served on the ABC Board since 2017 and has played a key role in the creation and leadership of ABC’s Digester Operator School and multiple ABC committees.
  • Lizzy Reinholt, President of Peaks Renewables, Summit Utilities, Inc.
    Lizzy leads development, operations, and strategy for Peaks Renewables, Summit Utilities’ renewable gas development company, with a focus on scaling RNG and other low- and negative-carbon energy solutions. She also oversees Summit’s state and federal policy and government affairs efforts.
  • Mark Stoermann, Chief Operating Officer, Newtrient LLC
    Mark has more than 25 years of experience in renewable energy and more than 40 years in the dairy and food processing industries. His background includes leadership roles in anaerobic digestion, RNG development, and nutrient recovery projects supporting dairy sustainability.
  • Nathalie Hoffman, Managing Director of Energy Compliance Services, Weaver
    Nathalie leads Weaver’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) consulting practice and has advised clients on California’s LCFS since its inception in 2011. A member of the California Bar and former partner of a major corporate law firm, she is accredited by CARB as an LCFS verifier and serves as Co-Chair of ABC’s Agriculture Committee.
